EXPERIMENTS

I have a deep passion for mixing different mediums in my artwork, embracing a trial-and-error approach to learn and innovate. I strive to stand out by experimenting with diverse techniques and materials, discovering what works best. Every element, from a simple crop to a piece of aged paper, has the potential to contribute to something new and visually striking. These experiments have enriched my understanding of color theory, balance, and creative expression.

The Old Wrapping Paper - March 2021

I found old colorful wrapping paper on the ground one day while walking. I tore the paper into layers with different folds and added texture using the edge of a spray can. Once I achieved the desired color and texture, I experimented with interesting crops and angles that gave the image an aged look and conveyed a captivating story.

Futurism Headdress x Female Warriors - July 2020

In my digital mixed medium experiments, I often focus on side or front view shots that capture captivating stares and expressions. I blend various elements together to construct a futuristic realm populated by female chief leaders who embody the strength of female beauty. This fusion combines elements of nature with human interpretations of female warrior headdresses and fashion, creating a unique vision.

Mixing To Create Ideas - July 2018

During this experiment, I made a significant discovery. The blending of live images began to serve as the blueprint for my next phase of paintings. By creating these digital worlds and then translating them back into the realm of painting, I found a new source of inspiration that fueled my artistic journey for the following three years.

Kadagos “Little Ones” - July 2020

During one of my early projects in art school, I was tasked with creating a poster for Amnesty International. I came across images and events that deeply affected humans, particularly children. The use of child soldiers in combat struck a chord with me and became the subject I wanted to address through my art. I aimed to raise awareness about the existence of these children in the world.

To bring my vision to life, I repurposed an old tabletop circle by removing its legs. Then, I took an old building block, reminiscent of those used in preschool, and glued it to the center of the tabletop. In my mind, this represented the child living amidst the chaos and confusion, trapped in a cycle of unforgivable actions that have been passed down from generation to generation in order to survive. We are all influenced by different ideas and beliefs, but children are not born with these notions. They are shaped and programmed from a very young age.

This experiment helped give me a visual snap shot of the empathy I posses for these children.

The 3rd Degree - Jan 2018

I enjoy finding new textures to use as a foundation for my artwork. It allows me to experiment with different processes and explore color combinations. I search for interesting patterns on metal or plastic surfaces that can be enhanced with aerosol paint, resulting in unique shapes and patterns.
